Library Accessibility

The Library is committed to providing fair and equitable access to our resources, spaces, and services for all members of the Olin community.

Physical Help

We make every effort to maintain a compliant, accessible space for all users. Please contact us immediately to request help or report an access issue. When the librarians are not available, you may call Public Safety at 781-239-5555 and they will assist you.

Retrieving/Navigating Materials: request help with retrieving books or other items from any shelf, opening doors, moving furniture to create an accessible path, and any other physical access needs.
Accessing Spaces: users are entitled to accessible pathways throughout the Library. Much of the Library's furniture is mobile and may be rearranged by our users as long as they maintain clear, accessible routes, doorways, aisles, and work areas at all times. Please report blocked paths or access issues to Library staff for immediate help during staffed hours.

Digital Books & Resources

Screen readers: The majority of Library-provided ebooks are screen-reader compatible. If a resource isn't working with your assistive technology, email library@olin.edu so we can investigate and resolve it quickly for you. Ebooks located in Olin Scholar (hosted by EBSCO) may be downloaded for screen reader use with Thorium, a free and open-source application.
Course-assigned books: The Library licenses all available and affordable ebook and audiobook versions of assigned course materials. Digital versions, if available, are linked on the Course Reserves page at library.olin.edu, and updated each semester.
Scanning requests: Some course books are not available digitally. In those cases, students with documented accommodation needs may use our high-resolution, OCR scanner (next to the circulation desk) or coordinate with Disability Services for assistance with scanning.
