Fabrication Spaces and Supplies
The Library provides hands-on spaces and equipment for creative projects, prototyping, and learning new skills. All major equipment requires one-time training regardless of your experience level.
Using equipment without required training violates Library policy and Honor Code.
Training signups are announced by week 4 each semester via email and posted on library.olin.edu.
Training required for:
- Workroom equipment (screen printing, vinyl cutting, etching press)
- Sewing machines and sergers
- Sound Studio equipment
- High-end cameras and A/V equipment
What you can use without training:
- Hand sewing in Sewing Area
- Drawing and painting materials in Workroom (provided by Artist's Guild of Olin)
- Basic crafts supplies on upper level
- Library of Things cameras (self-checkout, basic models)
Equipment and supplies policies and use:
- Educational and personal projects always welcome
- Limited business prototyping allowed
- No commercial production or monopolizing equipment
- Library provides basic consumables for our machinery
Spaces & Gear:
- Workroom: Screen printing, vinyl cutting, etching press, art supplies
- Sewing Area: sewing machines, serger, hand sewing tools, fabric
- Sound Studio: Professional audio recording (reservation required via Outlook)
- Library of Things: Cameras, audio equipment, lighting gear
